  • Black History Month We are celebrating Black History Month with a contest. Please click here to print a PDF of the questions and help your child answer them if he/she needs assistance. The sheet should be turned into the media center no later then Tuesday, February 28 to be part of a drawing for prizes. (Late entries will not be excepted- one entry per child, but families with more then one Thurston Heron can submit an entry for each child.)

I used the district provided Worldbook Online Encyclopedia and it would be easiest for you to answer the questions using the same. This is a terrific database that the Ann Arbor Public Schools provides for our students to use both during the school day and at home. Exploring it with your child is a great way to get to know a reliable, valid source of credible information that is an amazing “go to” resource for any research your child may need to do. Directions to access it are below:

    1. Go to the Ann Arbor Public School main page (
    2. Click on Students and Families
    3. Click on Students
    4. On the Student Resource page click on Elementary Resources on the left
    5. Click Home Access under World Book Encyclopedia
    6. Type in the user name and password

    user name: annarborps
    pw: annarborpshome

This should take you to the page that gives you choices of kids, students, timelines, etc. Click on Kids to do your research.

Thank you so much for participating in our contest.
